Jaz Sinclair on Gen V, her music and her Golden Nymph win at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival

Fresh off her International Golden Nymph Award for Most Promising Talent at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, Gen V star Jaz Sinclair sat down for a lively roundtable discussion about her hit Prime Video series, her music career, and whether she would have picked up a career as an influencer if it weren't for television. Sinclair, who plays the superpowered Marie Moreau in The Boys spin-off, also reflected on her gradual rise in Hollywood—and how her relationship with fame has shifted.

During her speech at the opening gala ceremony on Friday night, when she was awarded the Golden Nymph, Sinclair shared: "There is nothing in the world that I love more than storytelling. Stories are timeless, and through them we are able to tap into feelings and experiences that we might otherwise have trouble understanding. To get to tell stories for a living is quite literally a greatest honor, and to be recognized in my pursuit of that is such a beautiful gift, and it's really never something that I expected."
On her rising popularity and newly found fame during her meeting with journalists, the actress elaborated: "I like that my career has happened at a nice pace for me, for my personality... I like that I get to be anonymous, but not so much anymore… Now, people call me by my name," she laughed, recalling when strangers would claim they went to high school with her.
With Gen V’s second season premiering in September, Sinclair teased what fans can expect: "If you loved Season 1, you’re really gonna love Season 2... It’s a little louder, a little darker." The show continues to blend outrageous humor with sharp political satire, including nods to real-world chaos. "Our show isn’t scared to touch taboo things from both sides," she said, referencing The Boys creator Eric Kripke’s comparison of Homelander to Donald Trump in a recent interview. "There’s a bit of magic in how our episodes keep releasing right when this stuff is happening in the world." And yes, the gore remains gloriously over-the-top. "We exploded a penis in Season 1—we raised the bar," she grinned, hinting there might be more of this stuff coming up in Season 2.
Beyond acting, Sinclair is diving into music under the moniker Jasimi, with a finished album on the way. "That’s where my heart is right now," she said, though she’s open to producing and directing someday. "If I wrote anything, it’d be a book before a script." Her storytelling inspirations? Folklore and timeless tales. "I love classical material—it’s amazing how stories from hundreds of years ago still resonate. That’s what I want to explore: the universal human stuff."
When asked by TVBIZZ whether she would have picked up a career as a digital creator instead of doing TV and movies, Sinclair was frank: "no, absolutely not. Not for me, I'm much too shy. And I'm not good at my phone, and I don't want anybody to know anything about my life ever. So I think I would be the worst influencer in the world. I love them. I have my influencers that I love, but I watch them like a fly on the wall. I think for me, I would not be good at it".
As Gen V’s lead, Sinclair takes pride in setting a collaborative tone. "We’re on time, prepared, and nice to each other. Knowing everyone’s name matters." Though she’s drawn to magical roles ("Put me on a spaceship! Put me in Indiana Jones!"), she’s eager to try indie films or comedies next. "Something grounded, outside a lot... or hey, if Harry Potter needs a professor, I’m down," sharing that out of all the franchise, Harry Potter is her favorite. "I love a really well built world. And so I think that's why I gravitate towards these magical worlds, because they challenge the rules of the world that we live in, and I like anything that makes you think expansively and mystical realism, like all of that, I love."
When asked what advice she’d give her past self, Sinclair paused. "Younger me would say... it’s good to see the good in people first, it's good to be a little naive. Life can make you cynical, but that naivety? It’s kind of right."
With Gen V’s success, a music career blooming, and a Golden Nymph on her shelf, Sinclair’s future looks as bright as Marie’s blood-bending powers.
Gen V Season 1 is streaming on Prime Video; Season 2 premieres September 2025.
